Lagune de la Somone
The Somone Lagoon is a coastal wetland where mangroves, sandbanks and shallow waters shelter birds, fish and crustaceans. Visitors generally explore by pirogue or from authorised paths, with the landscape changing with the tides.
Things to see and do
- Explore the lagoon by pirogue with an authorised local operator
- Watch birds from a distance that does not disturb their resting areas
- Discover the mangrove and its role as a nursery for fish
- Observe the sandbanks and changing landscape with the tide
Good to know
Check the tide, weather and departure conditions before the trip. Bring water, a hat and sun protection; do not feed birds, damage mangroves or leave waste.
