Îles de la Madeleine
Madeleine Islands National Park protects a group of volcanic islets off Dakar’s western Corniche. Sarpan, the main accessible islet, features rocky landscapes, salt-tolerant vegetation and important habitats for seabirds.
Things to see and do
- Observe the volcanic rock formations and cliffs
- Discover Sarpan Island with authorised accompaniment
- Watch seabirds without approaching nesting areas
- Enjoy views of Dakar and the ocean from permitted routes
Good to know
Access depends on weather, sea conditions and park authorisation. Do not arrange an informal crossing: confirm departure with authorised park services or operators, bring water and sun protection, and remove nothing from the island.
