Gambia River at Wassadou
At Wassadou, the wooded banks of the Gambia River provide a quiet setting for river scenery and birdwatching. Pirogue outings, when available and water levels permit, should be arranged locally with an experienced operator; no particular animal sighting can be guaranteed.
Things to see and do
- Watch sunrise or sunset from a safe, established riverbank area
- Use binoculars to spot river birds without disturbing them
- Take a pirogue trip only with a properly equipped local operator
- Listen to and observe river wildlife from a respectful distance
Good to know
Confirm outing availability, river level, weather and safety equipment locally. Wear a life jacket in a pirogue, keep hands and feet out of the water, do not approach wildlife, and bring insect repellent, water and sun protection.
